You can find the bill in it's entirety here:
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_bills&docid=f:h3835ih.txt.pdf
The main generals points are these:
- No Military Commissions Except on the Battlefield
- No Evidence Extracted by Torture or Coercion
- No Detaining Citizens as Unlawful Enemy Combatants
- Restoring Habeas Corpus for Suspected Alien Enemy Combatants
- Prohibiting Warrantless Spying by the National Security Agency in Violation of Law
- Renouncing Presidential Signing Statements
- Ending Secret Government by Invoking State Secrets Privilege
- Stopping Extraordinary Renditions
- Stopping Threats to Prosecuting Journalists under the Espionage Act
- Ending the Listing of Individuals or Organizations as Terrorists Based on Secret Evidence
The irony of course is that most of these points shouldn't even be an issue. Many of these points are clearly referenced in the constitution and therefore we shouldn't require laws guiding our decisions on some of these matters; we should simply follow the constitution, the supreme law of the land. It is quite sad that we have explicitly state what and what is not allowed, despite the fact that the constitution is quite clear on many of these points.
I would highly recommend to everyone to go to the following site that will show you how to write an email to your state representative.
